byebye PAVE

Tomorrow is the last day of PAVE 2013 summer program. After that, the Americans will go back home to continue their high school education and we, the Malaysia students will stay here, in Vanderbilt University, prepare for our first-year-degree class that going to start in September, Fall Season. PAVE 2013 is our 6-weeks preparatory program but the JPA scholars came here a week late. And I could remember how we tried to catch up the Prof. Mazita Math class, the Matlab, the lab report etc. It's a pain. We just arrived but we had to do a lot of things. There's no rest for us. It's really really painful. PAVE is our preparatory program before we enter our degree class and all of us are only 18 years old! In Malaysia, most of the prep to overseas study are at least 1 and half year. Can you imagine it? We learnt pre-calculus in 2 weeks by our own. Only 2 weeks!! Without any teacher or lecturer!! It's really stressful and painful.

I could remember the moment when Doc V told us that he want to test our basic math. And yeah, he gave us the exam sheet and we need to answer it in one hour. To tell the truth, I only answered 8 questions out of 20 and I scored 5 out of 20!! Why did I answered only 8 questions? It's because I didn't know how to solve the other 12 questions!! I never learnt it before!! That means, I don't have the basic!! At that time, I knew I need a lot and lots of effort and hard work to do. Doc V gave us a lot of times to study our math by cancelled our computer skills class, humanities class, Matlab project and CC+ programming during PAVE because math is really important for engineering. If you can't master the math, you will be in big trouble. The possibility to flunk out is really high.

Know the basic concept!!

It's okay if you don't do a lot of exercises
as long as you know the BASIC CONCEPT!!

Don't ask your friend
because you don''t know their knowledge level
study by your own
